Juliette Marie lived in a lighthouse by the sea. Each day, she watched the sailboats from the shore, but she wished she could do more. She helped the boats with her guiding light, but she wondered what was out there, beyond her line of sight.
She dreamed of sailing out to sea, and one day she had the opportunity. The sky was dark, and the clouds were swirling, and out in the storm- a boat, tossing and turning.
The waves were high, but Juliette did not fear. She climbed right into a boat that was near. Into the sea she bravely sailed, and all the while the wind whined and wailed. Drawing closer, she signaled the boat and its captain…
…She led them to safety and asked what had happened. The captain’s name was Levi Anchor. He told her his tale and continued to thank her. “I went sailing when the sky was clear and blue. The storm came suddenly, and I didn’t know what to do.”
Soon the storm ended. The sun returned to the sky, and way up ahead, the seagulls began to fly. Juliette and the captain spent the day on the land. They found shells and sea stars and made castles of sand.
Soon the captain said, “Goodbye. Thanks for rescuing me.” and got into his boat and returned to the sea.
When the sky turned pink and the sun turned red, Juliette went home and headed to bed. She thought about her day and her new friend. She hoped her adventures, once started, would never end. Today she went sailing, and tomorrow she’d go again.
